Off to New York!

Safely made it to Terminal 1 at JFK. Not as easy as you would think. At the Best Western we decided to drive ourselves to the Park’n Fly to avoid the hotel shuttle. I set the hotel alarm clock to 4am to give us an hour to shower & get to Dorval airport. I even set my watch alarm in case the alarm clock malfunctioned. I tossed and turned all night, wondering if I had packed everything we’d need for China (yes, I’m very anal when I travel…ask those who have travelled with me). Desperately though, I really want to sleep because I know the flight to Beijing will be arduous…then I hear Erin’s voice, softly, as in a dream?

She calls my name a second time.
“yeah?” is all I can offer at this time.
“Did you remember to move the time forward?”
Sweet thing…of course I didn’t! The clock reads 3:09…and the horror sets in.

We jump out of bed and rush into panic mode. We dodged the bullet this time, made the airport on time and, in spite of huge lineups to get into the USA, made our flight with 10 minutes to spare. Now we just wait…from 8am to 5pm before we board China Air flight to Beijing and start our 11 hour flight across the dateline.
