Today we hit the Great Wall…we did other stuff but “the Wall” is definitely a biggie. They say that if you haven’t done the Wall, then you don’t know China. I’m guessing that’s true…the Wall explains a lot, without saying much. It stands as much as a monument to all those who died building/fighting/defending Beijing as to an icon of how well China has done fending for itself. China seems to have survived remarkably well once you understand her history…she shunned maritime wars in spite of the fact that she had maritime superiority, without knowing it, before most other fleets set their sails towards the new world. Apparently, being introverted can sometimes be a good thing.
