Night Owling

I`ve adapted now to the evening shift. I don`t see my family much but I sure enjoy the little time I have with them. And since I’m home when everyone else is gone, I’m getting stuff done that I don’t normally have time for. Like getting ready for winter. Normally I come home, have dinner, put the kids to bed and the darkness prevents much outdoor work. But now I get up in the morning and have several hours to do yardwork.

That`s important since I received, last Saturday, my order of 450 plants for my shoreline restoration project. Why it had to happen when I have the least amount of time to do it is beyond me, but, in reality, it`s probably better now than somewhen else. Who wants to plant in the dark?

My wife calls me most night before the children`s bedtime and tells the children to say goodnight to their ‘biological dad’. Hopefully they won’t get too accustomed to my absenteeism.
