On Monday we thought we`d hop on a boat near the Eiffel tower and tour Paris via the Seine. Of course, we picked the wrong boat line…this boat is glass covered and lets you get on or off at any of the 8 or 9 stations it has along the Seine. The first thing we noticed is that there is no tour guide — the other boats have guys dressed in period costumes in air-conditioned halls or on breezy roof-tops. The second thing is that this glass boat is a bit like a micro-wave…so, once again, we cooked.

Getting off at St. Germain we hoped to bump into the ghosts of dead writers and poets but we seemed to mostly bump into grumpy Parisians..
We have a passable lunch at an outrageous price but by now we’ve come to accept the “Paris premium” on food. Back on the boat we make it to the Champs Élysées hoping to make it all the way to the Arc de triomphe but a quick visit to FNAC, the French version of Best Buy, takes longer than planned and Erin has a conference call so we take the subway back. And yes, it`s still in the mid to upper 30s and I`ve never spent this long without wearing socks or long pants.
