Of course, we picked the wrong boat line&#8230;this boat is glass covered and lets you get on or off at any of the 8 or 9 stations it has along the Seine. The first thing we noticed is that there is no tour guide &#8212; the other boats have guys dressed in period costumes in air-conditioned halls or on breezy roof-tops. The second thing is that this glass boat is a bit like a micro-wave&#8230;so, once again, we cooked.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_669\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-669\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/instipator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_2255.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-669\" src=\"http:\/\/instipator.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/IMG_2255-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Plaque thanking Beaudelaire, Wagner and Oscar Wilde for staying at their hotel.\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-669\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Plaque thanking Beaudelaire, Wagner and Oscar Wilde for staying at their hotel.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Getting off at St. Germain we hoped to bump into the ghosts of dead writers and poets but we seemed to mostly bump into grumpy Parisians..<br \/>\nWe have a passable lunch at an outrageous price but by now we&#8217;ve come to accept the &#8220;Paris premium&#8221; on food. Back on the boat we make it to the Champs \u00c9lys\u00e9es hoping to make it all the way to the Arc de triomphe but a quick visit to FNAC, the French version of Best Buy, takes longer than planned and Erin has a conference call so we take the subway back.
